Halloween House Calls With Kids Doctor Costumes

Many parents dream that their progeny will become doctors. Some will get their wish (along with a steep bill from Medical School and continual visits for laundry service). Others may only see their boys and girls in the role of doctor at Halloween. At least once in their lives you will get to see them in scrubs thanks to kids doctor costumes.

Arguably, the most important part of the medical outfit is a white coat. This item will be long, with pockets for pens and a prescription pad. Pin or clip a name tag under one collar, not forgetting to add Dr. And MD before and after.

Beneath that coat kids can wear one of two outfits. Go for the office look with a suit or just dress pants and nice shirt with tie for boys, sober dress and sensible shoes for girls. On the other hand, dress your young doctor in scrubs if you see him as a surgeon one day. These can be green, pink or blue.

Scrubs are usually seen in blue or green, sometimes pink. This goes for the hat, shoe covering, pants and shirt. Your mask will be white. An exception to the blue, green or pink rule would be the hat of an anesthetist. Often these professionals wear multi-colored, wacky designs on their heads as if to convince patients the sedatives have already been administered inspiring awe. Some kids can be very specific about their Halloween characters.

Accessories include a name tag showing Dr. Junior Smith MD or similar. The stethoscope is a critical part too. Along with many other items, this can be purchased from a toy store or costume shop. On the other hand, if you know a doctor, ask to borrow hers. If you plan to go as a paediatrician, bring a teddy bear.

The bag is important too. Many of us have images of our own GPs with their black ones, very professional and a little ominous looking. Within this special bag will be many tools of the trade essential to the role of family physician.

Included among these will be medical jelly beans labeled as laxatives, sedatives and pain killers. A thermometer is critical too, just so long as Fido and Smokey find a safe place to hide. Add a syringe and blood pressure cuff for good measure, plus a clip board for taking notes or keeping track of the houses that give out the best candy (so kids save time next year).

While you dream of a bright future for your sons and daughters, they may prefer to take kids doctor costumes and mix it up a bit, add an individual touch. Remember who is wearing the get up and try not to feel disappointed. With his white coat he could be a Victor Frankenstein, mad scientist kind of doctor complete with a shock of white hair sticking right up. His coat could be smeared with blood while the bag contains a rubber axe. Combine regular doctor features, like the stethoscope, with science fiction elements for a Star Trek look. Emulate Patch Adams and his philosophy that laughter heals with the addition of huge clown feet, wig and red rubber nose.
